Pro Masters were great to work with! They sent email updates, verified everything with my insurance, and even provided a rental car because we didn't have coverage on our policy. We used them for hail and accident work, so they were able to get everything done all together.

FAQs about Finding a Qualified Auto Body Shop

Get Straight Answers from the Experts at Pro-Masters Auto Collision & Hail Center

  • How do I choose a qualified auto body shop after an accident?

A qualified auto body shop should employ certified technicians, use modern repair equipment, and follow manufacturer-approved repair procedures. Look for a shop with a strong local reputation, clear communication, and a written warranty or satisfaction guarantee. Experience working with insurance companies is also important, as it helps ensure repairs are completed properly without unnecessary delays.

  • What certifications should an auto body shop have?

Pro-Masters is highly certified. We staff ASE Certified technicians and hold I-CAR certifications. These certifications indicate that technicians stay current with evolving vehicle technology, materials, and repair standards. Never use a shop that is not certified.

  • Do I have to use the auto body shop my insurance company recommends?

No. You have the legal right to choose the auto body shop that repairs your vehicle, regardless of what your insurance company suggests. Insurance providers may recommend “preferred” or “direct repair” shops, but the final decision is always yours. Choosing a trusted local auto body shop ensures repairs are done to your standards—not just the insurance company’s minimum requirements.

  • Will my insurance cover auto body repairs at any shop I choose?

In most cases, yes. Insurance companies are required to honor your choice of repair facility as long as the repairs are reasonable and necessary. We  will work directly with your insurance provider to review estimates, handle documentation, and help ensure your claim is processed smoothly.

  • How does the insurance claim process work with an auto body shop?

Once you file a claim, our local auto body shops can coordinate directly with your insurance company. This typically includes submitting repair estimates, documenting damage, ordering approved parts, and updating the insurer throughout the repair process. We aim to reduce delays and ensure repairs meet both safety standards and insurance requirements.

Minor scratches, chips, and paint scuffs might seem like small cosmetic issues, but they can lead to bigger problems if ignored. While it may be tempting to overlook light paint damage, your vehicle’s exterior serves an important protective function in addition to appearance. Addressing paint damage early can help preserve your car’s condition and value. At Pro-Masters Auto Collision & Hail Center, we provide expert auto paint repair in the greater Pueblo area. Here are four reasons why it’s still important to repair minor car paint damage. Prevent Rust and Corrosion Even small chips or scratches can expose your vehicle’s metal body to moisture and air. Once the protective paint layer is compromised, rust can begin to form and spread over time. What starts as a minor blemish can eventually lead to significant corrosion if left untreated. Repairing paint damage early helps protect the underlying metal and prevents long-term deterioration. Maintain Vehicle Value Your car’s appearance plays a major role in its resale or trade-in value. Even minor paint damage can make a vehicle look less well-maintained, which may lower its perceived value. Keeping the exterior in good condition helps preserve your investment and can make a meaningful difference when it’s time to sell. Prevent Damage from Spreading Small areas of paint damage can worsen over time due to exposure to sunlight, foul weather, and road debris. Cracks and chips may expand, making repairs more extensive and expensive later on. Addressing the issue early helps contain the damage and keeps repairs simple and cost-effective. Pride of Ownership Even minor paint blemishes can stand out, especially on newer or well-maintained vehicles. Fixing scratches and chips helps restore a polished look and keeps your car looking its best. A well-maintained exterior reflects pride of ownership and enhances your vehicle’s overall appearance. Hailstorms can leave your vehicle covered in dents and dings, often in a matter of minutes. While the damage may seem purely cosmetic at first, ignoring it can lead to more serious problems. Addressing hail damage promptly helps protect your vehicle’s appearance, structural integrity, and overall value. At Pro-Masters Auto Collision & Hail Center, we provide expert automotive hail damage repair in the greater Colorado Springs and Pueblo, CO areas. Here’s a look at four important reasons why you should fix automotive hail damage as soon as possible. Prevent Rust from Taking Hold Hail can potentially crack or chip your vehicle’s paint, exposing the metal underneath to moisture and air. Once this protective layer is compromised, rust can begin to form quickly. Over time, corrosion can spread and weaken the affected areas, leading to more extensive and costly repairs. Fixing hail damage early helps preserve your vehicle’s finish and prevents long-term deterioration. Maintains Vehicle Value Dents can significantly reduce your car’s resale value. Even minor hail damage can make a vehicle appear poorly maintained, which may turn away potential buyers. Prompt repairs help maintain your vehicle’s appearance and ensure it retains as much value as possible if you decide to sell or trade it in the future. Prevents Further Damage What starts as small dents can sometimes lead to bigger issues if left untreated. Damaged areas may become more vulnerable to additional wear, especially in harsh weather conditions. Paint cracks can expand, and weakened panels may be more susceptible to further impact. Addressing the problem early prevents minor damage from escalating. Pride of Ownership Repairing hail damage restores your car’s smooth finish and helps it look like new again, making it easier to feel pride of ownership in your vehicle. Beyond aesthetics, there’s also peace of mind in knowing your vehicle is in good condition and better protected from potential long-term issues. If your car is insured and the hail damage is moderate or severe, yes—it's usually worth fixing. Repairs through your comprehensive insurance policy typically mean you'll only pay your deductible, which is often around $250–$750 depending on your plan. On the flip side, if you're uninsured, or driving an older vehicle with minor cosmetic dents, it may not be financially necessary to fix the damage right away. To help you make a smart decision, here’s a quick decision tree to guide you through the most common situations: Why It Usually Makes Financial Sense to Repair Hail Damage If your vehicle is covered by a comprehensive insurance policy, fixing hail damage is almost always the smart financial move. Hail repair is one of the most commonly covered claims in Colorado, and most policies only require you to pay a deductible ranging from $250 to $750. The rest? That’s picked up by your insurance company. Hail is Covered Under Comprehensive Insurance Unlike collisions, hail damage falls under “acts of nature”, which means it’s handled through comprehensive, not liability, coverage. If your car is insured and you've filed a hail claim before, you already know the drill: pay your deductible, and your insurer covers the rest. Tip: Even if your deductible is $500 or more, you may not have to pay it out of pocket. Ask your repair shop if they offer deductible assistance. Unrepaired Damage Hurts Resale and Trade-In Value Hail dents might not seem like a big deal, but they absolutely lower the value of your vehicle. Most dealerships will deduct $1,000–$3,000 from a trade-in offer if they see visible hail damage, and sometimes even more for SUVs and trucks with large surface areas. Even if you plan to keep the car for now, those dents don’t disappear. Down the road, you’ll still be facing resale penalties or repainting costs. Besides, any rust that forms around the damage will cost far more to fix than a quick PDR (paintless dent repair) job would today. When skipping hail repairs might make sense Repairing hail damage is a smart move in most situations, especially if your car is insured and the damage is noticeable. But there are some cases where you might reasonably decide to hold off. Let’s walk through the most common ones. • You’re driving an older vehicle - If your car is already ten to fifteen years old and has other cosmetic issues or mechanical wear, hail damage might not change its value all that much. • You don’t have comprehensive insurance - Without the right coverage, you’re responsible for the full cost of repair. At that point, it’s worth weighing the repair cost against the vehicle’s actual value. • The damage is minor and purely cosmetic - A few shallow dents with no paint damage won’t affect performance. While they might slightly reduce resale value, they may not be worth fixing on a vehicle you plan to keep for a while. • You’re planning to donate, scrap, or retire the car - If your vehicle’s nearing the end of its useful life, it may not make financial sense to put money into repairs, even if the damage is noticeable. For many people, this ties into whether they have a comprehensive policy
